Natalie watched her boyfriend, Nathan, leave for work. “I’ll be late today,” he said, avoiding eye contact. Natalie noticed his fatigue and suggested a vacation. “Maybe… I’ll think about it,” Nathan replied, grabbing his briefcase. Natalie felt a mix of sadness and confusion as he left without a kiss.
To distract herself, Natalie cleaned the house. While tidying Nathan’s clothes, a small velvet box fell out. Inside was a beautiful ring. Overjoyed, she put it back, hoping Nathan was planning to propose after five years together.
A week later, Natalie met her friend Megan at a café. “I found a ring in my boyfriend’s things,” Natalie shared. Megan excitedly revealed her engagement. “Maybe we could have a double wedding?” Megan joked, showing her ring. Natalie recognized it instantly. “What’s your fiancé’s name?” she asked. “Nathan,” Megan replied. Realization hit: “My Nathan!?” Natalie shouted.
That evening, Natalie confronted Nathan. “I called your boss. He said you weren’t at work today,” she said. Nathan proposed, but Natalie refused. “You’re proposing with the same ring for the second time,” she said angrily. Megan entered, exposing Nathan’s deceit. “Get out of my house,” Natalie commanded, closing the door on a stunned and defeated Nathan. “Goodbye, Nathan,” she said.
