Beloved actress Miriam Margolyes, 83, has shared a heartbreaking update about her health, stating, “I haven’t got long to live.” Fans expressed their sadness, with one writing, “She’s an absolute legend. A wonderful person and will be a great loss.”

Margolyes has enjoyed a remarkable career, from family films like Babe and Flushed Away to acclaimed roles in Romeo and Juliet and Little Dorrit. Best known as Professor Sprout in Harry Potter, she recently stirred controversy by telling adult fans of the series to “grow up” and “get over it.”

The actress has faced significant health challenges, including heart surgery where she received a cow’s aortic valve. “I’ve got a cow’s heart now,” she revealed. She also has spinal stenosis, which affects her mobility. Despite this, she continues to work, citing financial concerns: “I’m saving up cash so that I can pay people to look after me and my partner.”

Looking ahead, Margolyes will perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival but acknowledges her declining health: “I yearn to play roles that don’t confine me to wheelchairs, but I’m just not strong enough.”
