Mia set me up with Eric, calling him a “total gentleman.” At dinner, he impressed me with flowers, a personalized keychain, and engaging conversation. When the check came, he firmly stated, “A man pays on the first date.” I didn’t argue.
The Invoice
The next morning, Eric sent a Date Night Invoice listing absurd charges:

- Dinner + Tip Covered: A second date
At the bottom: Failure to comply may result in an outstanding balance being sent to collections (Chris will hear about it).
The Payback
Chris, Mia’s boyfriend, sent Eric a counter-invoice:

- Letting You Sit at the Table: A formal apology to all women you’ve dated
Eric’s angry texts followed. I blocked him.
Lesson Learned
If a guy insists on paying, make sure he won’t send an invoice later. As for the keychain? I kept it—as a hilarious souvenir.
