A Starbucks employee has gone viral after posting an emotional video about their work schedule. As a full-time student, they were assigned 25 hours a week, including two eight-hour weekend shifts. Frustrated with management and struggling to balance work and school, they shared their experience online.
The video was shared by far-right commentator Sebastian Gorka, who mocked the employee, saying, “Trans Barrister has meltdown because 8 hours is too long to work on a day…” His post sparked mixed reactions, with some criticizing the barista and others defending them.
Critics dismissed the employee’s concerns, with one person saying, “My husband normally works 70 hours a week… this kid needs to learn what hard work is.” Another added, “Suck it up, buttercup.” Supporters, however, pointed out the difficulty of managing work and studies. One argued, “A full-time college student is expected to do 2-3 hours of homework per class hour… That is a 70-hour week.”
The barista expressed frustration over understaffing, lack of accommodations, and rude customers. “I don’t even know what to do anymore, I’m at my wit’s end with this job,” they said.
