Travel Influencer Dies in Tragic Mountain Fall
Fatal Accident on Tryfan
Maria Eftimova, a 28-year-old civil engineering student at the University of Salford, tragically fell 65 feet to her death while climbing Tryfan mountain in Snowdonia, Wales, on February 22. She was accompanied by her friend Anna and Anna’s father when the accident occurred. Despite immediate CPR efforts, she could not be saved.

Remembering Maria
Eftimova’s friends paid heartfelt tributes, recalling her adventurous spirit and kind nature. Megan Griffiths described her as “a one-of-a-kind person who lived life to the fullest – not only adventurous and free-spirited but also incredibly kind, intelligent, and selfless.” Another friend, Victoria Critchley, added, “Maria was an ambitious, bright and cherished [person] whose vibrant personality, energy, and aura touched and uplifted all around her.”
A Passion for Adventure
Eftimova had a deep love for extreme sports, especially snowboarding. “She was super excited for and looking forward to doing [it] again on her upcoming trip to Austria,” Critchley shared.
Fundraiser for Repatriation
Her family in Bulgaria is struggling to bring her home for a proper farewell. A fundraiser set up by her friends has raised over £19,000 ($24,000) to support the effort. “Words cannot express the devastation her family and our community are experiencing,” Critchley said.
