Harry Potter Star Has Died

The entertainment world is mourning the loss of Simon Fisher-Becker, best known for his role as the Fat Friar in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001) and as Dorium Maldovar in Doctor Who. The actor, who also appeared in Les Misérables (2012) and various British TV series, passed away at the age of 63.

His agent, Kim Barry of Jaffrey Management, shared her grief: “Today I lost not only a client in Simon Fisher-Becker, but a close personal friend of 15 years standing.” His husband, Tony, announced the news on social media: “At 2:50 this afternoon, Simon passed away. I’ll be keeping this account open for a while.”

Fans and colleagues paid tribute online. “His stage routine was one of the funniest things I’ve heard in ages. A dear man who valued his audiences,” one wrote. Another added, “Incredibly upsetting to hear… He’ll never be forgotten.”

Beyond acting, Fisher-Becker was a writer, speaker, and vlogger who engaged with fans worldwide. His warmth and humor made a lasting impact, ensuring his legacy endures.
