People in shock at ‘absurd’ post published to official White House website

A controversial statement published on the official White House website has left many people shocked. The post, released on March 5, claimed that President Donald Trump had “highlighted many of the egregious examples of waste, fraud, and abuse funded by American taxpayers.”

One of Trump’s claims was that the Biden administration spent $8 million on “making mice transgender.” The statement further accused the previous government of granting millions to institutions conducting “transgender experiments on mice.” A particularly surprising line read: “The Fake News losers at CNN immediately tried to fact check it, but President Trump was right (as usual).”

The post confused transgenic research with gender transition, leading to widespread criticism. One social media user mocked, “One simply can’t make this level of stupidity up. Confusing transgenic mice with transgender mice. It’d be laughable if it wasn’t so pathetic and embarrassing, coming from the WH.” Another commented, “We are not a serious country.”

In reality, the studies used transgenic mice to test medications. The National Cancer Institute and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases received funding to study cancer and HIV treatments, not to alter gender in mice.
