What Did the Wife of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson Say After He Was Killed?

UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot outside the New York Hilton in Midtown Manhattan on December 4. Authorities described it as a targeted attack, with the gunman waiting several minutes before firing multiple times. Despite immediate medical attention, Thompson was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai West. The suspect fled and remains at large, with a $10,000 reward offered for information.

His wife, Paulette Thompson, has since spoken about the tragedy. She confirmed that Brian had mentioned threats before his death but was uncertain of the details. “There had been some threats. Basically, I don’t know, a lack of coverage? I don’t know details. I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him,” she told NBC News. Law enforcement continues investigating the nature of these threats.

In a heartfelt statement, Paulette expressed the deep sorrow her family faces: “We are shattered to hear about the senseless killing of our beloved Brian.” She described him as “an incredibly loving father to our two sons” and someone who “touched so many lives.”

UnitedHealth Group also mourned his loss, stating, “We are deeply saddened and shocked at the passing of our dear friend and colleague Brian Thompson.” As investigations continue, Thompson’s colleagues, family, and community remember him as a leader who made a lasting impact on the healthcare industry.
