Kyren Lacy Dies at 24 Amid Legal Turmoil
Former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy was found dead on April 12 in Houston at just 24 years old. An LSU official confirmed his death to ESPN. While the cause hasn’t been officially released, it’s being investigated as a suspected suicide, according to sources.
Lacy faced legal trouble in his final months. In December, he was accused of a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 78-year-old man in Lafourche Parish. He turned himself in on January 12 and was released on $151,000 bail. A grand jury was set to hear evidence less than two days after his death.

His lawyer condemned the investigation as “an overzealous, targeted effort—what can only be described as a witch hunt,” and said Lacy had not been formally charged. “Kyren was a young man with immense promise, and he was crushed under the weight of an irresponsible and prejudiced process,” the statement read.
Lacy, who transferred from Louisiana-Lafayette to LSU, had declared for the 2025 NFL Draft in December. He was praised for his talent and intensity on the field.
