Thomas Gibson’s Pride Was ‘Hurt’ After Being Fired – He Is Doing His ‘Best’ After ‘Hard’ Divorce

Thomas Gibson, known for his roles in “Criminal Minds” and “Dharma & Greg,” developed a passion for performing at a young age. Born in 1962 in Charleston, Gibson, inspired by Louis Armstrong, even sang in a Dixieland band as a teen. Graduating from the College of Charleston and Juilliard School, he later earned acclaim for his role in “Dharma & Greg” and his portrayal of Hotch on “Criminal Minds.”

In 2016, Gibson’s career took a hit when a disagreement with producer Virgil Williams led to his dismissal from “Criminal Minds.” Describing the incident, Gibson said, “He came into that room and started coming towards me… We had some choice words.” The conflict resulted in Gibson’s termination, leaving him hurt but determined to move forward. Despite challenges, he expressed optimism, stating, “I just need more opportunities to do good work and be a good guy.”

Gibson’s personal life mirrored his professional challenges. After over two decades of marriage, he filed for divorce from Christine in 2014, and it was finalized by 2018. The couple, parents to three children, prioritized their well-being during the process. Gibson, who experienced his parents’ divorce as a child, acknowledged the difficulty but emphasized their commitment to responsible co-parenting, stating, “We did the best we could and continue to do the best we can as parents.”

For Gibson, being a father is paramount. Despite setbacks in both career and personal life, he remains focused on his children’s well-being. Reflecting on his experiences, Gibson shared, “Being a dad is the greatest experience of my life.” Despite life’s unexpected turns, Gibson’s resilience shines through as he endeavors to embrace new opportunities and maintain a positive outlook on the future.
