A Deadly Mistake
A 29-year-old tourist in the Philippines climbed into a crocodile enclosure at Kabug Mangrove Park, thinking the 15-foot reptile was a statue. He waded through the water to take a selfie—only to be attacked by the very real croc, named Lalay.

Brutal Attack Caught on Camera
As tourists shouted warnings, Lalay clamped her jaws on the man’s arm and thigh. She then performed a “death roll,” violently flipping him over.
“He thought it was just a plastic fixture,” said Police Staff Sgt. Joel Sajolga.

Saved Just in Time
After 30 minutes in the enclosure, a zookeeper hit the croc with a cement block, forcing her to release him. The man was rushed to the hospital with over 50 stitches.

A Serious Warning
Authorities reminded visitors never to enter animal enclosures.
“This kind of behavior is very dangerous… he is very lucky to have survived,” Sajolga said.
