Born in London to Albanian parents, Dua Lipa moved to Kosovo at age 11. By 14, she was determined to return to London, telling her parents, “I want to be a superstar.” She convinced them by saying she needed to complete her British education.

Back in London, Dua attended Sylvia Young Theatre School and uploaded demos to YouTube. She stayed with family friends, stayed focused, and avoided distractions. Her drive led her to the right contacts—and eventually, a music career.

Despite past embarrassment over her name, Dua now embraces her heritage. She launched Kosovo’s Sunny Hill Festival to bring international music to her hometown. Her siblings also entered entertainment, and she credits her hardworking parents as her biggest inspiration.

Dua Lipa broke the Guinness World Record for most live-stream tickets sold by a solo female artist and had the longest-charting Billboard Hot 100 hit with “Levitating.” She now holds multiple Grammys—and Albanian citizenship.
