Famous drummer Daniel Williams tragically died in a private plane crash just hours after sharing lighthearted Instagram posts from the cockpit. The crash occurred on May 22 in Murphy Canyon, San Diego, killing all six people onboard.
Williams, best known for his time with metal band The Devil Wears Prada, posted “Here we gooooo” and joked, “I’m the (co)pilot now” before takeoff. He also tagged music agent Dave Shapiro—owner of the plane—who was among the victims.

The plane’s crash shocked the music world. Shapiro, co-founder of Sound Talent Group, represented major acts like Sum 41 and Pierce the Veil. The company confirmed losing three employees: Shapiro, Kendall Fortner, and Emma Huke. Photographer Celina Kenyon and Shapiro’s friend Dominic Damian also died.
The NTSB is still investigating. Early reports suggest fog and a downed weather alert system may have played a role.
Williams’ former bandmates shared a tribute: “No words. We owe you everything. Love you forever.”

The music community mourns a devastating loss, with tributes pouring in for those lost too soon.
