Jade Damarell, a 32-year-old experienced skydiver, tragically lost her life in a parachute incident on April 27 in Shotton Colliery, County Durham. She had completed over 400 jumps, and officials confirmed there was “no reason at all” to suspect equipment failure. Her death is not being treated as suspicious.
A post-mortem revealed Jade died from blunt trauma. An inquest opened on May 22, with a full hearing scheduled for August 21.
Born in Kowloon and living in Caerphilly, South Wales, Jade was remembered by her parents as “a brilliant, beautiful, brave and truly extraordinary person.” They shared, “She lived with immense energy, passion, and love,” and had recently begun training for her pilot’s license.

The skydiving community and Sky-High Skydiving expressed deep sorrow, calling her a valued and admired member. “This heartbreaking news has deeply affected all who knew her,” a spokesperson said.
Her family thanked emergency services and asked for privacy as they grieve. Jade’s vibrant spirit and legacy continue to shine in the hearts of those she touched.
