In August 2011, 19-year-old Olga Moskalyova was attacked and eaten alive by a brown bear while walking near a river in eastern Siberia. She was with her stepfather, Igor Tsyganenkov, when a mother bear and her cubs attacked. As Igor was killed in front of her, Olga ran but couldn’t escape.
In the midst of the attack, Olga managed to call her mother, Tatiana, multiple times. “Mum, the bear is eating me! It’s such agony,” she screamed. Tatiana initially thought it was a joke, but the growls and her daughter’s terror made the truth horrifyingly clear.

Despite the chaos, Olga kept calling. “Mum, the bears are back… they’re eating me,” she said. Her final words came an hour later: “Mum, it’s not hurting anymore. I don’t feel the pain. Forgive me. I love you.”
Authorities arrived too late. They found the bear still feasting on Igor’s body. Both victims were buried the same day. Tatiana later said, “She was so cheerful, so full of life,” remembering the daughter she lost in one of the most brutal ways imaginable.
