On June 12, 2025, an Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashed moments after takeoff, with 242 people onboard. The Boeing 787 burst into flames shortly after liftoff, killing nearly everyone. The cause is still under investigation.
A viral video shows 40-year-old British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh limping away from the wreckage. He had been seated in 11A and told reporters, “Thirty seconds after take-off, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed.” Despite chest and foot injuries, he managed to run until help arrived.
Vishwash had traveled with his brother, Ajay, but they were seated separately. “I can’t find him anymore. Please help me find him,” he pleaded. His brother remains missing, and many families are still searching for loved ones.
Air India activated a helpline and sent teams to assist victims’ families. CEO Campbell Wilson promised ongoing support, while King Charles III expressed sympathy to all affected, praising rescue crews for their swift action.
