Heroic Move by Senator John Hoffman’s Wife to Protect Their Child During Shooting Revealed

In the early hours of June 14, violence struck the home of Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman. Around 2 a.m., both he and his wife, Yvette, were shot in a politically motivated attack. Despite their injuries, the couple survived emergency surgery and are now in stable condition.

During the chaos, Yvette made a split-second decision that may have saved their daughter’s life. According to a family member, she threw herself over Hope, their daughter in her mid-20s, shielding her from the bullets. Hope escaped unharmed.

Senator Hoffman’s injuries were severe, with one bullet narrowly missing his heart. Yvette’s wounds, while serious, did not damage internal organs. Governor Tim Walz confirmed the couple is recovering and called the shootings an “assassination attempt.”

The same morning, State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were fatally shot. Authorities believe both attacks were politically driven and connected. A manhunt is underway for the suspect, and public officials have increased security. President Biden condemned the violence, urging Americans to stand united against political extremism and hate.
