Tensions are rising fast in the Middle East as missile strikes between Israel and Iran escalate. Iran has warned that British, US, and French military bases could be targeted if they support Israel, calling recent strikes a “declaration of war.”

The conflict intensified after Israel launched attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, killing several senior military figures. Iran responded with missile strikes—some intercepted, others hitting their targets. In retaliation, Israel struck Iranian energy sites, including an oil refinery.

The UK government has advised citizens not to travel to Israel, warning of a “fast-moving situation that poses significant risks.” Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has urged de-escalation, while stressing Israel’s right to self-defense. Additional UK jets were deployed to the region, but officials insist this is a precaution, not a sign of war.

Iran’s state media repeated threats that foreign bases and ships could be hit if involved. While former US President Donald Trump warned Iran of “unseen levels” of force, Starmer emphasized diplomacy: “The message is: de-escalate.”
