Subtle detail in sole survivor’s recollection of Air India crash could indicate what went wrong with plane

Vishwash Kumar Ramesh was the only survivor when an Air India flight crashed shortly after takeoff, killing over 240 people. The plane, heading to London from Ahmedabad, slammed into a hostel building less than a minute after leaving the runway.

Speaking from his hospital bed, Vishwash described hearing a loud noise just 30 seconds into the flight. He recalled, “When the flight took off, within five to 10 seconds it felt like it was stuck in the air. Suddenly, the lights started flickering – green and white.”

Moments later, the aircraft failed to gain altitude and crashed. Vishwash, seated next to an emergency door, unbuckled himself and crawled through debris to escape. He remembered seeing bodies and wreckage all around him as he fled.

Experts believe the flickering lights hint at electrical problems, matching reports of earlier issues on the same jet. While theories vary from engine failure to bird strikes, Vishwash’s account may hold vital answers. His survival is a miracle—and a key piece in solving the tragedy.
