Former Chicago teacher Christina Formella, 30, now faces 55 charges for allegedly grooming and sexually abusing a 15-year-old student. Prosecutors claim she began manipulating him at 14 and performed over 45 sexual acts, including at school and at her home.
Prosecutor Jaclyn McAndrew described Formella as “unbelievably conniving and unbelievably controlling.” Authorities uncovered hundreds of texts between her and the teen, revealing details that expanded the case far beyond the initial three charges.

Despite the shocking allegations, Formella’s husband, Michael, has stood by her, holding her hand as they arrived at court this week. Prosecutors say Michael knew nothing about the alleged abuse and that Formella often mentioned him to the teen in her messages.
Formella pleaded not guilty to all charges. While prosecutors pushed for jail time, the judge allowed her to stay free under house arrest with an ankle monitor and tracking on her devices. If convicted, she could face up to 60 years in prison.
