A deadly tornado struck Clark Mills, New York, early Sunday morning, killing six-year-old twin sisters Emily and Kenni Bisson. The girls were inside their home with their mother, Kayleigh, when a massive tree crashed through the roof, trapping them beneath the wreckage.
The EF-1 tornado hit around 3:58 a.m., with winds reaching 105 mph and leaving a 2.43-mile path of destruction. Neighbors recalled Kayleigh’s desperate screams: “She was yelling, ‘Get my kids out!’” said Jared Bowman, who tried to help. Tragically, responders later found the girls dead at the scene.

The tornado also claimed the life of 50-year-old Shelly Johnson, killed when a tree crushed her home nearby. Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency in 32 counties due to storm damage and incoming heat.
Emily and Kenni were known for their joy and love of dance and sports. Their school canceled classes and offered grief counseling. A GoFundMe for Kayleigh, a single mother who lost everything, has raised over $300,000. The community continues to mourn amid ongoing recovery efforts.
