Southern Indiana is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 4-year-old Maverick Flinn and his great-grandmother after a tragic farm accident in Jackson County. Maverick had joined his great-grandfather in a combine when he tried to get down and was accidentally struck by a tractor. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but Maverick died shortly after. His great-grandmother passed away two days later.

Maverick’s family has been surrounded by overwhelming support. Locals brought food, helped harvest wheat, and raised over $77,000 through GoFundMe. “It’s absolutely incredible what this community has done,” said Maverick’s uncle, Zach Flinn. The family also launched the “Maverick Minute” — a call for farmers to pause and check their surroundings before using machinery.

Maverick, described as energetic, kind, and deeply connected to farming and faith, brought joy to all. He adored fire trucks, shared toys at church, and loved being a big brother. His short life touched many.

The town honored Maverick with a roadside tractor tribute. A banner read, “Maverick Flinn riding tractors with Jesus.” His memory lives on in the love and unity he inspired.
