On June 24, 24-year-old Jessica McLaughlin was allegedly attacked during her shift at a 7-Eleven in Los Angeles. Her brother, Sean, claimed a female manager “held her down, sat on top of her, and didn’t let her breathe.” He said, “She wasn’t breathing” by the time she was released and collapsed.
Jessica’s co-workers called 911 after she got free. She was rushed to the hospital but had suffered brain damage from a lack of oxygen. “She’s basically declared brain-dead now,” said her father. Despite efforts and second opinions, the family made the heartbreaking decision to remove life support.

The LAPD confirmed the incident began as a verbal dispute and turned violent. They are treating it as a homicide. Surveillance footage has been secured but not yet released. No arrests have been made.
Jessica’s brother launched a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses. 7-Eleven issued a statement expressing condolences and confirmed the suspect was terminated.
