Liverpool FC forward Diogo Jota has died at age 28, just two weeks after marrying his longtime partner, Rute Cardoso. The young father leaves behind three children, the youngest born in late 2024. His younger brother Andre, 26, also died in the car crash, which occurred in Zamora, Spain.
Jota had recently spoken about the balance between football and fatherhood, saying, “When I go home after playing, I still have a family… and the stress, it doesn’t stop.” He was determined to be the best dad possible, even after exhausting matches.

In a recent interview, he shared how football helped clear his mind but never took away from his commitment at home: “You want to be the best father you can be.” His love for his family was evident in every word.
Liverpool FC expressed their devastation, asking for privacy for the family. “We will continue to provide them with our full support during this unimaginable loss,” the club stated.
