Fiona Phillips, former GMTV host, revealed her early-onset Alzheimer’s diagnosis in 2023. Initially, she thought her symptoms—frequent anxiety, brain fog, and mood swings—were due to menopause. “Even simple tasks like visiting the bank caused panic,” she shared.
Without typical symptoms like hot flashes, Fiona struggled to understand what was happening. “I felt I’d lost control over my life,” she said. Her diagnosis brought clarity but also heartbreak.

Fiona’s husband, Martin Frizell, left his TV job to care for her. In a raw moment, he admitted, “I wish it had been cancer… at least there would be treatment and support.” With Alzheimer’s, he said, families are often left to face the struggle alone.
Martin now helps Fiona with daily routines like brushing her teeth and getting dressed. Their shared memoir, Remember When: My Life with Alzheimer’s, offers a touching, honest look at navigating love through the darkness of disease.
