Man who decapitated dad and showed severed head online receives sentence after explaining why he did it

Justin D. Mohn, 33, was sentenced to life without parole after murdering and decapitating his father, Michael F. Mohn, in their Pennsylvania home. The gruesome act followed a political argument in which Justin claimed his father feared he was “becoming the next Donald Trump.”

After the killing, Mohn posted a disturbing 14-minute video on YouTube holding his father’s severed head. In the video, he demanded government changes and called for federal employees to resign. The judge, horrified by Mohn’s actions, sentenced him to two life terms plus 40 additional years.

During the trial, Mohn said the murder was “plan B” after a failed attempt at a citizen’s arrest. He claimed he had to use “deadly force” when his father resisted and tried to take his gun. “I was hoping to perform a citizen’s arrest,” Mohn told the court.

The judge highlighted the pain Mohn caused his family, especially his mother. Despite receiving unconditional love, Mohn carried out an act the court described as unspeakable and fueled by delusion.
