Harry Potter star Emma Watson has received a six-month driving ban after being caught speeding in Oxford. The 35-year-old, best known for playing Hermione Granger, was snapped going 38mph in a 30mph zone in July last year.
Although Watson didn’t attend the brief hearing, the court handed her a $1,400 fine. Judge Arvind Sharma added three penalty points to her license, which already had nine. “There’s no leeway,” he ruled, despite her celebrity status.

Watson, currently pursuing a master’s in creative writing at Oxford University, hasn’t starred in a film since Little Women in 2019.
In a strange coincidence, fellow Harry Potter alum Zoë Wanamaker—who portrayed Madam Hooch—was also banned on the same day. She was caught driving 46mph in a 40mph zone on the M4 near Newbury. Like Watson, Wanamaker had nine points on her license and received the same fine and six-month ban.
Both actors now face time off the road due to repeated speeding violations. UNILAD has reached out to their representatives for comment.
