A summer walk turned into a devastating nightmare for Mollie Egold and her twin toddlers, Bradley and Noah. The 33-year-old mother was pushing her boys in a stroller along Hussey Road in Albion, Maine, when a suspected impaired driver, Benjamin Lancaster, 44, allegedly struck them from behind on July 11, 2025, before fleeing the scene.

Bradley died instantly, while Noah was airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland. Despite days of critical care, Noah was declared brain dead on July 13 and removed from life support two days later. Mollie, who sustained severe injuries and multiple fractures, remains in the ICU after several surgeries.

Lancaster has been arrested and charged with manslaughter, aggravated criminal OUI, and leaving the scene of an accident. “He took away our babies. He took away our life,” said the twins’ grandmother, Martha Collins, calling for harsher charges.

A GoFundMe campaign is raising funds for funeral costs as the community rallies around the Egold family. Mollie previously lost another son, William, in a 2017 canoe accident, making this tragedy even more heartbreaking.
