Ozzy Osbourne’s sister, Jean Powell, shared the touching final text message the rock legend sent before his death on July 22, 2025, at age 76.
Ozzy’s family said he passed away “surrounded by love.” In a statement, they asked for privacy: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away.”
Jean last saw Ozzy during a concert in Birmingham. “He was frail but still our John, still cracking jokes,” she said. “Every week, without fail, he’d call or text. His last message said, ‘I can’t wait to come back.’ We were hoping to see him this week.”
Ozzy is survived by his wife Sharon, six children, and grandchildren. He had recently reunited with Black Sabbath for a farewell show, telling fans, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” His passing follows his 2020 diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.
