A Salisbury family is mourning the tragic loss of their 2-year-old son, Er’mias Mitchell, who died after a dental procedure at Valleygate Dental Surgery Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
According to his father, David Mitchell, Er’mias was healthy and cheerful that morning, even bringing his favorite T-Rex toy to the clinic. “He was all good this morning, nothing was wrong. They checked his heartbeat, checked everything. It was all good until they took him back into the room,” David said. Shortly after receiving anesthesia, Er’mias reportedly suffered a collapsed lung.
The family claims they were not informed that their son had been taken to the hospital by ambulance. “We was like, ‘So where’s our son?’ He was already gone in the ambulance,” David shared.
Er’mias’s grandmother, Kyra Smith, expressed her grief: “My heart is broke. I just want families to be aware. I want them to say his name — Er’Mias Lewis Mitchell.”
An investigation is underway, and a GoFundMe has been launched to support the family with funeral and legal expenses.
