Winona Ryder has opened up about a disturbing experience with a Hollywood director who made a horrifying statement to her during filming. The Stranger Things star, who first rose to fame as a teenager in Beetlejuice, revealed the incident in a candid interview with Elle.
The 53-year-old actress spoke about the intense pressure women in Hollywood face to look young. “They’ll say, ‘Just relax your forehead. Relax.’ I’m trying to be a great actor, and they’re saying that over and over,” Ryder shared. “It’s nice that people are talking about how it’s OK to age, but there’s still enormous pressure.”

Ryder also recalled a time when reporting an inappropriate director backfired. “He came up to me and whispered, ‘You fing ct, I’m gonna destroy your f**ing life. OK? So let’s just do it like that?’ And I had to act,” she revealed.
Reflecting on the incident years later, Ryder told Jenna Ortega on the set of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: “I was almost telling it like it was funny. Then I saw Jenna’s face and thought, ‘Oh my God, this is bad.’”
