As fans prepare to say goodbye to legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne, his wife Sharon has stepped in to ensure his hometown of Birmingham can honor him properly. The city has been facing financial struggles, including a garbage collection strike and a $204 million budget shortfall, but Sharon offered to pay for road closures and security during the funeral procession.

Ozzy, the iconic frontman of Black Sabbath, passed away on July 22, just 17 days after performing a farewell show with his original bandmates at Villa Park in front of 40,000 fans. His funeral will take place in Birmingham on July 30.

“Ozzy was more than a music legend – he was a son of Birmingham,” said Lord Mayor Zafar Iqbal. “We are proud to host this tribute in the place where it all began.”

The public procession will pass along Broad Street to the Black Sabbath bridge at 8 a.m. EST, followed by a private family ceremony. Fans can watch the livestream online.

“He was with his family and surrounded by love,” the Osbournes shared in a heartfelt statement.
