Australian actress and filmmaker Clare McCann is mourning the tragic loss of her 13-year-old son, Atreyu, who took his own life after enduring months of bullying at a NSW public school. In a tearful Instagram post, she wrote, “In a moment of unbearable pain, Atreyu took his own life.”
Clare described Atreyu as a kind, creative soul whose light was dimmed by relentless torment. She revealed that despite reporting the bullying over 10 times and providing medical proof of PTSD, no action was taken. “They just destroyed him,” she said.

In his memory, Clare launched a GoFundMe campaign to cryogenically preserve his body — raising funds for preservation, legal processes, and a trust in his name. If donations exceed the goal, she plans to support anti-bullying reforms and legal action.
“I beg you to help me preserve his life and fight the system that failed him,” Clare urged. Her mission is to turn tragedy into action, ensuring other children are protected and no parent endures the same pain.
