Seyfried, best known for roles in Mamma Mia! and Jennifer’s Body, joined the discussion online. Commenting on a post about Kirk’s political positions, she described him as “hateful.” That brief statement quickly drew backlash and sparked debate.

Soon after, Seyfried expanded on her thoughts. She urged people to remember human complexity. Other celebrities also weighed in at the time. Jamie Lee Curtis, for example, criticized Kirk’s ideas but acknowledged his role as a husband, father, and man of faith. She later clarified that her remarks focused only on faith, not praise.
