Amanda Seyfried says she’s ‘not f***ing apologizing’ for comments on Charlie Kirk’s assassination

Amanda Seyfried has made it clear she will not retract her remarks about political activist Charlie Kirk, despite public criticism.

Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was killed in September after a shooting at Utah Valley University. His death stunned many. As expected, reactions poured in from across the public spectrum, including from well-known figures.

Seyfried, best known for roles in Mamma Mia! and Jennifer’s Body, joined the discussion online. Commenting on a post about Kirk’s political positions, she described him as “hateful.” That brief statement quickly drew backlash and sparked debate.

Soon after, Seyfried expanded on her thoughts. She urged people to remember human complexity. While she strongly opposed what she saw as misogynistic and racist rhetoric, she also stressed that the killing itself was horrifying. Moreover, she emphasized that no one deserves such violence. She added that the nation continues to mourn far too many senseless deaths.

Now, however, Seyfried says she stands by her words. In an interview with Who What Wear, she explained that her comment reflected documented statements and public records. She also said she has every right to voice an opinion based on facts. Importantly, she noted that social media allowed her to clarify her position after it was misunderstood.

Other celebrities also weighed in at the time. Jamie Lee Curtis, for example, criticized Kirk’s ideas but acknowledged his role as a husband, father, and man of faith. She later clarified that her remarks focused only on faith, not praise.

The discussion highlights how public grief, strong opinions, and nuance often collide in difficult moments.
