Anthony Joshua has suffered minor injuries after being involved in a fatal car crash in Nigeria, according to local authorities.
Police said the heavyweight boxer is “fine” after being taken to hospital for treatment, the BBC reported.
The crash happened on Monday, December 29, on the Ogun–Lagos state expressway. Two people died, but officials have not publicly confirmed their identities.

Joshua was born in the UK and has family roots in Sagamu, a town in Ogun State. He has previously described himself as “proudly Nigerian and proudly British.”
His promoter, Eddie Hearn, told the Daily Mail he learned about the incident while on holiday. He said the team is trying to contact Joshua directly and does not want to speculate, but early signs suggest he is OK.
One witness, Adeniyi Orojo, told Punch the group was travelling in a two-vehicle convoy, including a Lexus SUV. He said bystanders helped at the scene and flagged down vehicles for support before road safety officials arrived.
Reports and social media footage suggest Joshua was helped out of the wreckage by passersby. The Telegraph reported that the crash may have involved a vehicle hitting a stationary truck around 11am local time.
The incident comes weeks after Joshua’s recent heavyweight fight against Jake Paul, which he won by knockout.
