Kaden Rummler, 21, says a projectile hit him during a local ICE protest.
Violent Clash Occurs
The protest took place last Friday in Santa Ana, California. It happened about 35 miles south of Los Angeles.
A video showed people burning a flag and shouting at agents. They wanted justice for Renee Good.
Meanwhile, federal agents and protesters fought near a federal building. The DHS says 60 people threw rocks and fireworks.

Student Faces Serious Injuries
Rummler is a college student. He says he is now completely blind in his left eye.
Later, he told the Associated Press he is glad to be alive. He claims an officer fired a weapon at him from a short distance.
“I’m just glad I’m alive to tell my story,” Rummler said.

Surgery and Recovery
Rummler spent two days in the hospital. Doctors performed a six-hour surgery on his eye.
His aunt says he has skull fractures and a hole in his eyeball. Also, his tear duct was destroyed.
“My eye had sunk in, the globe ruptured and flaps of my eye [were] barely holding on,” Rummler told KTLA.

DHS Responds to Riots
The DHS says the group used shields and hit two officers. They arrested two people for assault and disorderly conduct.
One person went to the hospital for a cut. Still, officials say rioting is a crime and they will prosecute.
Finally, Rummler left the hospital on Wednesday. He belongs to a group called Dare to Struggle.
