Ariana Grande reveals illness amid Wicked: For Good press tour

Ariana Grande has revealed that she has fallen ill with Covid, forcing her to step back from the busy press tour for Wicked: For Good. The tour has been a major undertaking, with Grande pouring enormous effort into every appearance. Working closely with stylist Law Roach, she has showcased a series of elegant, Glinda-inspired looks that have helped extend the world of the film onto red carpets around the globe.

Beyond the fashion, Grande has carried a significant part of the promotional workload. She traveled from Brazil to Paris, London, Singapore, and New York in just two weeks, attending premieres, meeting fans, and taking part in television appearances. All of this came with intense public scrutiny, including ongoing online commentary about her body and health.

The schedule has also brought moments of real stress. During the Singapore premiere, a fan broke through security and grabbed her before guards intervened. Even with her calm demeanor, it was clear the tour had taken a physical and emotional toll.

Grande shared on Instagram that she tested positive for Covid shortly after her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The diagnosis means she will miss several planned stops, including an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Earlier issues had already disrupted the tour, including flight delays that kept her from the Brazil premiere and voice problems that led both Grande and co-star Cynthia Erivo to skip interviews at the New York event.

Despite these setbacks, excitement for Wicked: For Good remains strong. The first film earned more than $750 million worldwide, and early forecasts suggest the sequel could open to record-breaking numbers. Strong reviews for both Grande and Erivo have helped keep enthusiasm high as the film heads toward release.
