Model and “Australia’s Next Top Model” alum Lucy Markovic has died at 27. Her partner, Carlos, shared the news in an emotional Instagram Story: “Dear friends and family, I regret to inform you that Lucy has passed… She was at peace. Me, her mother and my mother were present with her.”
Markovic had been suffering from a brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM), described by the Mayo Clinic as “a tangle of blood vessels that creates irregular connections between arteries and veins in the brain.” Elite Model Management confirmed her passing followed “a brave battle” with the condition.
In the weeks leading up to her death, she posted updates from her hospital stay. Delays in testing, pain, and fear were part of the process. Still, she found strength in her loved ones, writing: “They have been such a healthy distraction for me.”
Her final post reflected a mix of emotions: “Excited, thankful, scared, supported, hopeful… Life’s a journey and I’m ready for the next chapter.”
Markovic’s passing has left fans and friends mourning a bright talent lost too soon. “Fly free… We love you Lucy, forever.”
