Even after retiring, the sisters kept their bond and sharp wit. Martine famously continued to see one long-term regular client for weekly sessions, comparing the routine to attending a Sunday church service. They remain proud of their history and their role in Amsterdam’s cultural fabric.

While the career is controversial, Miller’s family remains supportive. She finds fulfillment in the long-term success of her 400+ clients, many of whom have gone on to get married and start families. She is currently documenting these experiences in an upcoming book.

As global tensions rise, many Americans are concerned about a potential military draft. While the United States currently uses an all-volunteer force, the Selective Service System remains the framework for conscription during a national emergency.

All male U.S. citizens and immigrants aged 18 to 25 must register. By late 2026, this enrollment will become automatic. If a draft were called, a lottery would select 20-year-olds first, followed by those aged 21 through 25.

Several groups are currently exempt from service. Women are not required to register or serve under existing laws. Additionally, anyone with a serious medical or mental health condition that makes them “unfit for duty” would be excused after an evaluation.

Students finishing their degrees may also receive temporary delays. Experts stress that a draft is a last resort, as modern warfare depends more on technology than high troop numbers.
