Valeria Marquez, a 23-year-old beauty influencer with nearly 200,000 followers, was fatally shot while livestreaming from her salon, Blossom Beauty Lounge, in Zapopan, Mexico. The attack happened around 6:30 PM on Tuesday, with viewers witnessing her final moments before the stream abruptly ended.
Moments before the fatal shot, Valeria said, “They’re coming,” responding to someone off-camera. Seconds later, she was shot by a man who entered posing as a delivery person. He reportedly claimed to be bringing an “expensive gift,” which Marquez had referenced earlier in the live.
Authorities are treating the case as femicide, a gender-based killing. The suspect has not been identified. Forensics teams collected evidence at the scene, and Marquez’s body was sent for autopsy and official identification.
This tragedy highlights Mexico’s ongoing femicide crisis. According to the UN, around 10 women are killed daily in the country. Jalisco ranks among the most violent states, with over 900 murders recorded since October 2024.
