Fans were thrilled to spot actor William Atherton in Los Angeles this week, looking lively at 78. The beloved star is best known for his roles in Ghostbusters and Die Hard, two of the most iconic film franchises of the 1980s.

Atherton first made waves in Steven Spielberg’s debut The Sugarland Express with Goldie Hawn. But it was his unforgettable turn as Walter Peck in Ghostbusters that made him a household name. “Yo, d***less!” fans once yelled at him in New York, he recalled with a laugh. Four years later, he starred as nosy TV reporter Dick Thornburg in Die Hard alongside Bruce Willis.
He later reprised both roles in Die Hard 2 and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, proving his staying power in Hollywood. Still sporting his signature blonde hair, Atherton was seen running errands in a sky-blue shirt and sunglasses.

Seeing him out and about is a nostalgic treat for movie lovers. Which Atherton role do you remember most — Ghostbusters or Die Hard?
