Solange Knowles recently shared she was diagnosed in 2018 with three chronic illnesses: POTS, Sjögren’s syndrome, and MCAS. Her revelation came in response to musician Shaun Ross’s post about living with POTS. She wrote, “Sending u so much love and strength… to all struggling with the debilitating, confusing, and lonely symptoms of POTS!”
POTS affects blood flow and causes dizziness when standing. Sjögren’s syndrome is an autoimmune disorder that leads to dry eyes and mouth. MCAS causes repeated allergy-like reactions, including swelling and low blood pressure.

Solange previously canceled performances due to health issues, including in 2017. Reflecting on her silence, she said, “I can really relate to not wanting your health to be your identity.” She credited the “spoonie community” and Dysautonomia International for their support.
The singer, now 38, emphasized the importance of controlling how her body and story are presented. “Owning my body” means both physically and publicly. Solange continues to navigate her health on her own terms—with strength, grace, and honesty.
