Billie Lourd has clarified her decision not to invite her aunts and uncle to her late mother Carrie Fisher’s Hollywood Walk of Fame induction. Lourd’s statement came after her aunt Joely Fisher expressed disappointment on Instagram about not being included in the event.
Lourd explained, “The truth is I did not invite them to this ceremony. They know why.” She cited her relatives’ actions shortly after her mother’s passing, criticizing them for exploiting Fisher’s death for personal gain.
Addressing the family dynamics, Lourd emphasized, “To be clear — there is no feud. We have no relationship.” She defended her choice as a means to break away from a painful cycle.
Acknowledging the support from Disney and Lucasfilm, Lourd focused on honoring Fisher’s legacy, stating, “This moment is about Carrie Fisher and all that she accomplished and what she meant to the world.”
Carrie Fisher passed away in December 2016, followed by her mother Debbie Reynolds. Joely Fisher expressed sadness over their exclusion, highlighting the family’s ongoing grief and support for Lourd’s grieving process.
