Bride-to-be, 28, whose cancer was dismissed as acid reflux says she ‘laughed in disbelief’ when doctors said she had a year to live – and now vows to spend final months with her toddler son

She thought it was just acid reflux — until one appointment changed everything.

At only 28, Georgia-Leigh Gardiner was planning her dream wedding and chasing her business degree while raising her little boy, Arlo. But after months of stomach pain and unexplained weight loss, doctors finally discovered the truth — an incurable form of stomach cancer that had already spread. “When they told me I had a year to live,” she said, “I laughed in disbelief… then I broke down.”

For nearly a year, her symptoms were dismissed as stress and indigestion. “If they’d taken me seriously sooner,” she said, “maybe it wouldn’t have spread.” Now, she’s focusing on what truly matters — making memories with her fiancé Callum and their two-year-old son. “I want Arlo to remember me — to look back and see how much I loved him.”

Her loved ones are rallying behind her with fundraisers and support. As Georgia-Leigh puts it softly, “I’ll fight this fight until I can’t anymore — and live every moment like it’s my last.”
