Bruce Willis’ wife has revealed a painful decision about his care. The Die Hard star, 70, was diagnosed in 2023 with frontotemporal dementia, a disease that slowly affects speech, personality, and behavior.
Emma Heming Willis, 47, told Diane Sawyer her “hardest decision” was moving Bruce into a separate home with full-time caregivers. “Bruce would want that for our daughters. He would want them in a house more tailored to their needs,” she explained.
Their young daughters, Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, visit often for meals, movies, and family time. Emma said, “It is a house filled with love, warmth, and care. Friends still show up for him, bringing life and laughter.”
Though Willis remains physically strong, his speech and memory continue to fade. Emma has become his full-time caregiver and will release a book, The Unexpected Journey, this September. She added, “We’ve learned a new way of communicating. I’m grateful my husband is still here.”
