Cardiac surgeon shares ‘single worst thing’ you can do to your body as he reveals four things he never does

Dr. Jeremy London, a cardiac surgeon with 25 years of experience, has warned that while several habits harm heart health, one stands out as the most dangerous: smoking. Known online for sharing heart health advice, Dr. London urges people to avoid four key habits to protect their heart.

Dr. London’s list includes alcohol, soft drinks, refined carbs, and smoking. He called alcohol “toxic to every cell” and soft drinks “liquid death,” advising people to stop drinking them altogether. He also warned against bread and pasta made from refined flours, stressing, “80% of weight control is diet.”

“Smoking is the single worst thing you can do,” Dr. London said, linking it to cancer, high blood pressure, and strokes. It damages arteries, strains the heart, and raises blood pressure—often without symptoms.

Shortness of breath and fatigue can signal heart trouble. Dr. London encourages early lifestyle changes, emphasizing that “diet and exercise” are key to long-term heart health.
