A new study has raised concerns about ramen, the beloved noodle dish enjoyed worldwide. Researchers at Yamagata University in Japan found that eating ramen too often may be linked to a higher risk of early death.

The study followed over 6,500 adults aged 40 and above. Results showed men under 70 who ate ramen three or more times a week faced the greatest danger. One participant commented online, “Ramen may be tasty, but this makes me think twice.”

High salt levels in ramen broth appear to play a major role. “Frequent intake can raise the risk of stroke and gastric cancer,” researchers explained. Finishing more than half the salty soup, along with drinking alcohol, increased risks even further.

During the four-and-a-half-year study, 145 participants died, most from cancer or heart disease. While the findings don’t prove ramen directly causes death, scientists warn moderation is key.

The NHS advises: “Do not take omeprazole for longer than two weeks if you bought it without a prescription.
