Retired Lieutenant Michael Dubis, part of the Milwaukee homicide team that arrested Jeffrey Dahmer, says he still has “uneasy nights” over what he witnessed inside the serial killer’s apartment.
Dubis recalled the horrifying scene the night of Dahmer’s arrest in 1991. “Every drawer we opened, every cabinet we opened, there was body parts,” he told FOX & Friends. Officers discovered severed heads, bones, and disturbing Polaroids—proof of Dahmer’s gruesome crimes.
The killer, known as the “Milwaukee Cannibal,” murdered and dismembered 17 boys and men between 1978 and 1991. He was caught when a would-be victim escaped and led police to the horror-filled apartment.
Dubis also spoke to Dahmer’s father, Lionel, shortly after the arrest. “I told him Jeffrey was okay, that he was cooperating,” Dubis shared.
Decades later, he says the sweet, chemical smell of that room still lingers in his memory. Although documentaries like Netflix’s Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story capture much of the truth, Dubis says the trauma is something he’ll never forget.
