Husband Found After Eight Months
Jennifer Maedge lived in her home for eight months without knowing her dead husband was inside.
A Mysterious Disappearance
Richard Maedge went missing in 2022 after leaving work early. His wife found his car and keys at their house. However, she could not find Richard anywhere. Police searched the home but found no sign of him. They later described the house as a hoarder home.
Horrifying Discovery Made
Jennifer finally found Richard while she put up Christmas decorations. She was looking for a box of ornaments when she saw him. A coroner later found that Richard died by suicide. His body had become mummified over the many months. The coroner said the body gave off very little odor.
Family Demands Answers
Richard’s sister, Marilyn Toliver, is very angry about the delay. She wants the police chief and mayor to explain the situation. Toliver believes the police made many mistakes during the search. “I need answers from the police chief.” She threatened to take her complaints to the governor.
Official Police Response
Illinois police released a statement about the autopsy results. They found no injuries to suggest any foul play occurred. Also, they saw no evidence of anything nefarious regarding his death. Still, the family remains shocked by the long search. “Mistakes were made, and I want answers.”
