A young couple’s dreams of winning over $200 million in a lottery turned into heartbreak when they were told they couldn’t collect the money. Rachel Kennedy and Liam McCrohan, both students at the time, were ecstatic when they thought they had won. Kennedy recalls, “I went on the app and it said ‘Winning Match’… So I called my boyfriend Liam and my mum into the room and they couldn’t believe it either.” However, their excitement quickly turned to disappointment.
Kennedy didn’t have enough funds in her account to cover the ticket payment. McCrohan lamented on social media, “When your Mrs decides not to play the EuroMillions… and all 7 of her usual numbers come up.” Despite feeling embarrassed, Kennedy admits their luck is terrible, while McCrohan confesses, “I was absolutely heartbroken.”
Camelot, the lottery company, sent them a message wishing them luck in future draws. Kennedy has since changed her numbers, hoping to avoid a similar disappointment. Their story serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of luck.
